Ingredients

  • 250 g cremini mushrooms cleaned and quartered
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 cup rice flour or all-purpose flour for non-GF
  • 1 large egg beaten

Instructions

  • 1. Clean and quarter the mushrooms. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and olive oil. Add the mushrooms and toss to coat thoroughly. Marinate for 15-30 minutes at room temperature.
  • 2. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk the egg. Place the rice flour in another shallow bowl. Dip each marinated mushroom into the beaten egg, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the rice flour, ensuring it's fully coated.
  • 3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the coated mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches.
  • 4. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust seasoning to taste. For extra crispiness, ensure mushrooms are not overcrowded in the air fryer basket. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce like sriracha mayo or a simple garlic aioli.
