Ingredients
- 200 g ripe Camembert cheese rind removed
- 50 g cream cheese softened
- 50 g unsalted butter softened
- 0.5 small onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
- 0.5 tsp caraway seeds crushed (optional)
- 1 tbsp light beer or milk/water (optional)
- pinch salt to taste
- pinch black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mash the Camembert cheese, cream cheese, and softened butter together with a fork until well combined and creamy.
- Add the finely chopped onion, paprika powder, crushed caraway seeds (if using), and beer (if using). Mix thoroughly.
- Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste. Mix again.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. For best results, chill for 1-2 hours.
- Serve chilled with fresh pretzels, rye bread, or crackers. Garnish with chives or an extra sprinkle of paprika if desired.
Notes
For best flavor, use ripe Camembert. Adjust paprika and caraway to your liking. A splash of light beer adds authentic flavor, but water or milk can be substituted. Serve chilled. Can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
