BBQ Poppers: Grill Perfection
A fiery and flavorful appetizer featuring jalapeño peppers stuffed with a creamy, savory filling, wrapped in bacon, and grilled to crispy perfection. Perfect for any BBQ or gathering.
Ingredients
- 12 piece jalapeño peppers halved lengthwise
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 piece green onions chopped
- 0.25 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 12 slice bacon thin-cut
- BBQ rub optional
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F or 190-200°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture generously into each jalapeño half.
- Carefully wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a slice of bacon, securing it with a toothpick if needed.
- (Optional) Lightly sprinkle the wrapped poppers with your favorite BBQ rub.
- Place the poppers directly on the preheated grill grates. Grill for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until bacon is crispy and peppers are tender. Be careful of flare-ups from bacon fat.
- Remove from grill, let cool slightly, and serve immediately.
Notes
For a milder taste, use mini bell peppers instead of jalapeños. Get creative with your filling by adding a pinch of smoked paprika, a dash of hot sauce, or even some finely chopped cooked sausage. Serve with a side of ranch dressing or a cool avocado crema.
