Ingredients

  • 2 lb chicken wings pat dried
  • 1 tbsp baking powder not baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp ginger grated fresh
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Optional sliced green onions for garnish
  • Optional sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the thoroughly dried chicken wings with baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until all wings are evenly coated. The baking powder helps to create an extra crispy skin.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd. Cook in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Air fry for 18-20 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown, crispy, and fully cooked through.
  • While the wings are cooking, prepare the honey gochujang glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated fresh ginger, and sesame oil. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the glaze thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Once the wings are cooked and crispy, remove them from the air fryer. Transfer the hot wings to a clean large bowl and pour the prepared honey gochujang glaze over them. Toss until every wing is thoroughly coated.
  • For an even stickier and more caramelized glaze, you can return the coated wings to the air fryer for another 2-3 minutes at 375°F (190°C). Watch carefully to prevent the glaze from burning.
  • Serve the air fryer honey gochujang wings immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

For extra crispiness, pat wings very dry before coating. Adjust the amount of gochujang in the glaze to suit your spice preference. These wings are best served immediately, garnished with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. They pair wonderfully with a cooling side dip like ranch or blue cheese.
