Crispy Air Fryer Hot Honey Wings
Indulge in perfectly crispy chicken wings coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy hot honey glaze, all made easily in your air fryer for a less messy, flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lb chicken wings (flats and drumettes) pat dry
- 1 tsp baking powder aluminum-free
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper freshly ground
- 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
- 0.5 cup honey
- 0.25 cup hot sauce like Frank's RedHot
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings very dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil or cooking spray.
- Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in two or more batches.
- Air fry for 25-30 minutes, flipping every 8-10 minutes, until the wings are golden brown and crispy, and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
- While wings are cooking, prepare the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, melted butter, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring until well combined and slightly simmering. Remove from heat.
- Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a clean large bowl. Pour the hot honey sauce over the wings and toss gently until all wings are evenly coated.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce and fresh celery or carrot sticks, if desired.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure wings are very dry before tossing with baking powder. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for optimal crispiness. Adjust hot sauce to your preferred spice level. Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.
