Ingredients

  • 2 fillets salmon fillets (6 oz each
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  • Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the glaze.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet.
  • Cook salmon for 4-5 minutes on the skin side until the skin is crispy and the flesh has cooked about halfway up. Then, carefully flip the salmon.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side, or until the salmon is cooked through to your desired doneness. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  • Pour the prepared Asian glaze over the salmon in the skillet during the last minute of cooking. Let it simmer and thicken slightly, coating the salmon beautifully.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired, and enjoy with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

For an extra crispy skin, ensure the salmon is patted very dry before cooking. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added flavor and presentation. This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed rice and a side of stir-fried vegetables or a fresh salad.
