Ingredients
  

  • 1 slice crusty bread toasted
  • 1 can sardines in olive oil drained
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Lightly toast the slice of crusty bread until golden.
  • While the bread toasts, gently mash the drained sardines in a small bowl with a fork.
  • Stir in the fresh lemon juice, chopped fresh parsley, red pepper flakes (if using), a pinch of salt, and black pepper.
  • Evenly spread the sardine mixture over the toasted bread.

Notes
