Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup rice vinegar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar or honey
  • 6 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 Tbsp garlic minced

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar or honey, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
  • Whisk vigorously until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the sugar has dissolved.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or spiciness to your preference. If you like it spicier, add a pinch of Korean chili flakes (gochugaru).
  • Use immediately as a marinade or dipping sauce, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

This sauce is fantastic as a marinade for chicken, pork, or beef for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight for deeper flavor. It also works wonderfully as a dipping sauce for dumplings or spring rolls, or drizzled over grilled vegetables. Adjust gochujang for less heat, or add a pinch of fresh ginger for extra zing. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
