Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup black sesame seeds toasted and finely ground
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips optional (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, ground almonds, finely ground black sesame seeds, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- If using, gently fold in white chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set and lightly golden. The cookies will be soft when warm but will firm up as they cool.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure black sesame seeds are finely ground for best flavor and texture. For extra crispiness, bake a few minutes longer. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. A dash of black food coloring can intensify the visual appeal if desired.
